Joey Amini - Cello Concert

JOEY AMINI (also known as Arash Amini, during his career as a concert cellist) has been a realtor since 2022, when he signed with Pinnacle Estate Properties in Malibu. Prior to shifting his career to real estate, he enjoyed a highly rewarding, 20-year career as a concert cellist, after having graduated from the two most prestigious music conservatories in the world- The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia-where he studied with David Soyer (former cellist of the world renowned Guarneri String Quartet), and The Juilliard School in New York- where he studied with the legendary cellist and master teacher, Aldo Parisot. He has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician throughout the U.S., Switzerland, and Japan, and in France, Germany, and Botswana- including at some of the world's most celebrated concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, and the United Nations; and for The Creative Coalition and Americans for the Arts, among others.

Joey Amini has performed as solo cellist with Christina Perri, on tour throughout the U.S. with Rosanne Cash and violinist and composer Mark O'Connor- among others, as well as with countless orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. His performances have been heard on National Public Radio, WNYC, Radiolab, and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; he has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Houston Chronicle, The Malibu Times, and Tages Anzeiger (Switzerland); Malibu Magazine, Musical America, Chamber Music, The Strad, Symphony, and Muso magazines; on the Arte television network in Europe and Voice of America television and Internet broadcasts; and has recorded for the EMl and Naxos labels, among many others. He has been a Daniel Pearl World Music Days Artist.

Joey Amin is very fortunate to be performing on the same cello he has owned since the age of 13- a gorgeous and highly lauded instrument of unknown origin (likely from the workshop of the master French luthier, Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume), dating from c. 1860. His bow was crafted by the 20th Century Czech-German bowmaker, Rudolf Neudörfer, and was gifted to him in 1993 by his former teacher, David Soyer.

Since 2018, Joey Amini has been happily living in beautiful Malibu, with his fashion stylist wife- Eveline, and their now 8 year old daughter- Sienna Malibu, a proud student at Our Lady of Malibu School. He was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Fairfax, Virginia; and Gaborone, Botswana; and has also lived in Rockville, Maryland and Philadelphia. Prior to making Malibu his home, he lived in Manhattan for 21 years. He is very involved in the Malibu community- bringing people together by organizing get-togethers and playdates and inviting many friends to local events, as well as by volunteering, and being involved in various activities, at Our Lady of Malibu School, where he is the Administrative Assistant, is in his third year as a Room Representative, and is a Lead Committee member of the Parent Guild. After deciding to curtail his music career in 2020, Joey Amini returned to the concert stage in 2023 to perform a solo cello concert at Our Lady of Malibu Church. This year's concert is his second fundraiser concert for Malibu's beloved, special gem- Our Lady of Malibu School- in which 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the school, and as a gift to the Malibu and surrounding communities, as a whole.

"Music is surely one of the world's greatest gifts."

-Joey Amini
